New elements No. 113, No. 115, No. 117, No. 118 officially set Chinese names

This afternoon, the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the national language and character working committee and the National Science and Technology terminology approval committee jointly announced the Chinese names of the four new elements 113, 115, 117 and 118 to the society, the pronunciations are “Nǐ”, “mò”, “tián”, and “à o” in sequence (see the picture for the font shape). Among them, “tián” and “à o” are new characters, which have been approved by the national language and writing committee and incorporated into the national standard words.

It is reported that on June 8, 2016, the International Federation of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC) officially released the English names and element symbols of the four new elements 113, 115, 117 and 118. The synthesis and confirmation of the above four new elements fill the seventh cycle of the periodic table of elements, forming a complete and standardized periodic table of elements.
