China News Service, Dalian, May 9 (reporter Yang Yi) the second generation of modern and multi-purpose cargo teaching internship ship “Yu Peng”, designed and built by China itself, was launched in Dalian, Liaoning province on the 9th, with a total investment of 0.34 billion yuan.
The “Yu Peng” wheel was developed by Shanghai Ship Research and Design Institute and built by Dalian Cosco Shipping Engineering Co., Ltd. It was delivered to Dalian Maritime University on October 16, 2016 for teaching practice of the navigation major of the school.

The wheel load of Yu Peng is about 30000 tons, with a total length of 199.8 meters. The width of the ship is 27.8 meters, and the width is moulded depth 15.5 meters. The design draft is 10.3 meters, the service speed is 17.5 knots, and the endurance is 15000 nautical miles, it is the first modern internship ship of the second generation in China.
This round of advanced design, well-equipped, a large number of use of the world’s most intelligent, advanced, efficient and environmentally friendly equipment, will be mainly used for navigation majors teaching practice, it can also be used for scientific research and experiments in traffic information engineering and control, navigation science and technology, marine propulsion, environmental engineering and other disciplines.
The first round of “Yu Peng” will go to South Africa. 87 students of grade 2013 from Dalian Maritime University will complete the first flight with the ship and conduct professional internship on the ship. At the same time, the wheel will also ship four internal combustion engine locomotives and accessories of China’s medium-sized vehicle South Africa locomotive project, and load 36000 square meters of Tianjin Chongqing Iron and Steel Material piling and taking machine in Tianjin Port.

Zheng Shaonan, secretary of the Party committee of Dalian Maritime University, said that the 21st century is the ocean century. With the deployment and implementation of national major projects such as smart ocean, more high-end talents and technical support are needed. Teaching practice ship is an important platform for teaching and educating students and scientific research practice in schools. The “Yu Peng” round integrates teaching practice, scientific research practice, cargo operation and other functions, it will significantly enhance the teaching and scientific research strength of the school in navigation majors and disciplines.
