Foreign Ministry spokesman Geng Shuang introduced at today’s (11th) regular press conference that President Xi Jinping and South Korean President Wen were on the phone today. China is willing to work together with South Korea, promote bilateral relations to return to the track of healthy and stable development as soon as possible.
Geng Shuang introduced that during the call, President Xi Jinping congratulated Wen Zin on being elected president of South Korea, and pointed out that China and South Korea are close neighbors. Since the establishment of diplomatic relations 25 years ago, the development of China-South Korea relations has made great achievements.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Geng Shuang: Both sides should keep in mind the initial intention of establishing diplomatic relations between China and South Korea, respect each other’s major concerns and legitimate interests, and strive to assimilate differences and properly handle differences. Achieving better development of Sino-Korean relations is in line with the common interests of our two peoples and is also conducive to regional peace, stability and development.
Geng Shuang introduced that President Wen Yin said in the call that South Korea attaches great importance to relationship between South Korea and China and is willing to work with China to make bilateral relations develop at a high level and promote pragmatic strategic partnership.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Geng Shuang: South Korea appreciates China’s “Belt and Road” initiative and looks forward to the development and prosperity of the “Belt and Road” construction for countries and regions along the route, including China and South Korea.
