“You must hold on and cannot give up.” After saying this to a rescued miner, Cai Yongpeng, a mine rescue base in Hunan province, burst into tears.

On a stormy night, the scene of the poisoning accident in Jilin bridge coal mine located in Huangfengqiao town, Yixian county, Hunan province, from the preparation work before going down to the well, to the difficult rescue underground, to the transportation of trapped people to the well mouth, and escorted to the ambulance all the way, Cai Yongpeng has always been determined a goal-to strive for more trapped people to be saved.

12 hours after the poisoning accident, Cai Yongpeng was still unwilling to give up the hope of rescue. Carrying an oxygen tank, Cai sat in the tramcar without hesitation and led the team to search for the trapped people.

At around 11 o’clock on the 7th, a toxic gas poisoning accident occurred in Jilin bridge coal mine, and miners appeared poisoning symptoms one after another underground. A reservoir management personnel of the coal mine told the reporter that after the accident, the coal mine staff who did not go down the well hurriedly launched the rescue.

Local government departments urgently organized professional forces to carry out rescue after the accident. According to reports, a total of 5 rescue teams and 109 rescue team members from Changsha city, Shaoyang city, Zhuzhou city and Pingxiang city, Jiangxi province rushed to the scene.

A life-and-death rescue was carried out all night in the wind and rain in the eastern mountainous area of Hunan.

Cai Yongpeng is one of these search and rescue forces. After he went down to an operation plane, he searched for a miner with vital signs and wanted to tramcar his back. However, the oxygen in the underground was insufficient, and Cai Yongpeng with the oxygen tank could not carry the trapped person.

“Throw away the oxygen tank and carry you back.” Cai Yongpeng looked at the miners who were in a coma and threw away the oxygen tank without hesitation. He climbed 200 meters on the 50-degree slope and sent the miners to tramcar.

On tramcar, Cai Yongpeng held the miner tightly and kept cheering him up, asking him to hold on.

Like Cai Yongpeng, other search and rescue team members took turns to rescue the trapped people with heavy search and rescue equipment. The reporter saw at the slippery rescue site that some rescue workers were so tired that they rested on the bricks on the roadside.

Medical staff moved medicines, stretchers, equipment, etc. to the wellhead. At about 1 am on the 8th, when three underground personnel were rescued and lifted up the well, the medical staff guarding the well mouth immediately carried out first aid such as oxygen inhalation and infusion. Sweat moistened the clothes and hair of the angel in white with rain.

The on-site search and rescue work continued until dawn, and the coal mine factory was filled with the smell of drugs. As of 8:00 on the 8th, the latest verified number of people trapped underground was 55, 37 of whom were rescued and 18 others were killed.

From day to night, and from night to Dawn, rescue workers always stick to the rescue line. They are waiting for miracles and Miracles Of Life.
